How we work

In addition to the information on the homepage and our cars, here’s some more information about how we work, and we urge you to read this page before booking.

Our philosophy

Our philosophy is to offer comfortable, safe and reliable cars for a low price. That’s why we offer only a bit larger cars with an automatic transmission, a bit of ground clearance, and a lot of space. A lot of rental companies offer small Kia Picantos or Hyundai i10’s for example, but for us, driving out with ‘tiny tins’ like that on Curaçao is irresponsible, and we won’t have any of it.

We want to offer our clients a simple rental experience without hidden fees or ridiculous extra’s like most companies do, and we want to treat our clients like we want to be treated ourselves!

Logistics

We offer 2 options in the reservation system:

  • We pick you up at the airport
  • You pick up the car yourself at our office in Emmastad

We pick up 95% of our clients at the airport. We’re not allowed to do business there, but we do pick you up there and take you to our office, where we hand you your car. Airport pickup is free for reservations 7 days and up, and we charge XCG 130.80 for shorter bookings (still cheaper than a taxi!)

Our office is located in Emmastad, centrally on the island, 10 minutes from the airport. You will pass by Emmastad if you go to the east side of the island.

Since our employees usually work solo, we don’t drop off cars or pick up cars at hotels, but we might be able to pick you up at your hotel, depending on the planning of that day, and depending on where you are staying on the island. Contact us for a custom solution, and we can see if we can make it work!

Options

At other companies these subject are paid options. With us, it’s either included or not. To summarize:

  • Mileage: unlimited.
  • Insurance: all risk. really. no extra CDW’s, tire plans, window plans, all risk means all physical damages. Only losing a car key is not included.
  • Fuel policy: full out, full in.
  • Age limits: no age limit on the budget line, but 23yrs and 2+ yrs of experience for the new cars line.
  • Additional drivers: free, as long as they adhere to the same conditions as the main driver above.
  • Children seats: we don’t have these, but the Speelotheek Curacao rents out everything you will need, from car seats in different sizes to beds, etc. Book with them directly and let us know, then we will pick up your order at them before we pick you up!

Long term

With every long-term rental (28 days or longer), you get a 30% discount. That means the rate for the budget SUV/sedan for example goes down to XCG 49 per day. We have a lot of long-term renters, so join the club and rent your car with us. You’ll be guaranteed to have a working, maintenance free car, without any worries.

Optionally we make custom arrangements with people that are unsure how long they will need the car: you book and pay for the first 28 days, and after that we prolong every month and you pay in advance, but you can return the car early with a 7-day notice, and we’ll return what you overpayed.

Payment

After you make your reservation, you will get a confirmation of your reservation by email. 7 days before you arrive we’ll make a WhatsApp group with you and our team to discuss the final arrangements. We also make up the invoice and send it to you. You can pay the invoice online. You can choose to pay when you pick up the car, or earlier, whatever suits you.

If you are based in Europe we’ll include an online payment link through Mollie (iDeal, credit card, European bank transfer, Apple Pay, etc.). If you’re based in the US, we’ll send you a payment link through our US payment processor Stripe (they accept credit card, Apple Pay, Link, etc).

We don’t accept cash for security reasons. Contact us if you want to pay using Bitcoin.
